No Refunds Policy:

  • If the class you enrol for is fully booked your payment will be refunded in full and your name placed on a waiting list.
  • If a class is cancelled your payment will be refunded in full.
  • If you withdraw from a class up to the commencement of the class your payment will be refunded less an administration fee of $30.00.
  • No refunds will be given once classes have commenced.

Please note: The subscriptions of all members of a group class is required to cover the cost of the group class for the entire year. Therefore, once the class has commenced, there cannot be any refund - full or in part - of a subscription.

Hire Refunds:

No refunds can be given once the instrument has been used as the instrument will require servicing and sanitizing for hygiene purposes before it can be issued to another student. Instrument hire money is placed in a special fund for servicing of hired instruments and purchasing of new instruments.

Instrument Hire Policy:

As the HSM has limited numbers of instruments available for hire, our Policy is to provide hire in the order of:

  • 1st year students
  • 2nd year students
  • Other students may hire if instruments are still available after 1st & 2nd years have been catered for

By their 3rd year of learning, students - except for string players who are not yet ready for a full sized instrument - are expected to supply their own instrument.

HSM instruments are available for hire only to students having lessons at the Howick School of Music. Remember that instruments are available for hire from the Music Shops which have advertised at the bottom of this page. Contact these Shops directly to enquire about their Hire to Buy Schemes.

Confidential Payment Arrangement:

The HSM is willing to consider monthly/weekly payments to accommodate a family's financial circumstance.  Please contact the HSM administrator, Anne Esterman.
